It's been almost six years from the last SARS episode (H1N1). During this period no one at all knows whether humans were potentially exposed or contagious. But this news of asymptomatic (unaware is one term used). A new SARS-CoV mutation, found for the first time by scientists a short time after these SARS-infected human individuals were tested: as you mentioned some may still not been aware.
